Annual visit from students at Cornwall College, St Austell

25/10/2009

Visits from schools and colleges are a regular occurrence at Bandvulc. Just recently two groups of Engineering and Motor Vehicle students from Cornwall College, St Austell visited to learn more about retreading. Their Motor Vehicle Lecturer/Course Manager, Paul Martin, believes it's important for the students to get out and see the world at work and to have an insight into the tyre retreading processes. He states; "All of the students enjoyed the visit and have learned a lot from it.  Many commented that they'd had no idea of the precision, processes and expertise that went into the retreading of tyres".  Cornwall College St Austell

The students are first given an introduction to Bandvulc including background, business divisions and areas of operation.  The environmental savings of using retreaded tyres over new are highlighted and, following a safety briefing, they are then conducted around the company's manufacturing facility.

The visit concludes with questions and the students then leave armed with giveaways such as pens, stress camels and recycled notepads.

Bandvulc further supports the students by making a special award to the 'Best improved Motor Vehicle Level 1 Student' at their end of year ceremony every summer.
