Bandvulc Group in the Community

Bandvulc takes an active role in supporting various charities, groups and initiatives including hosting visits from local organisations and educational establishments.

Some of our recent activites:
 Bridgwater College
>  A donation of  £1,000 for state-of-the art lighting equipment in Stowford Hall at the Watermark, Ivybridge's inspirational new building.  Stowford Hall is a large multi-purpose space for events, conferences, cinema and theatre and fundraising for equipment was organised by FOPS (Friends of our Performance Space).

> Hosting visits in February 2008 from Bridgwater College for their Heavy Vehicle apprentices and being presented with a certificate in recognition of our continuing contribution to their education.

> A factory tour and company presentation to Ivybridge's Rotary Club in February.  Subjects covered included Bandvulc's history, tyre production and environmental undertakings.

> Ocean Beavers, Ivybridge visited the factory in December 2007 to find out how we recycle tyres and ensure that all the waste rubber is re-used in viable projects.  Each child was presented with a special T-shirt to commemorate their visit, which incorporated both the firm's camel logo and the scout's beaver image.

> Christmas 2007 - donations to local schools in Ivybridge and South Brent.  Monies to Manor Primary School in Ivybridge have been put towards the maintenance and improvement of their swimming pool.

Manstow U-14s > A new full football strip for the local Manstow under 14's football squad.  The kit, an Argentina replica, ensures the team continues to play in comfort sporting the latest wear in its favoured colour of blue. This was organised by team manager Philip West, who is also Bandvulc's Sales Director.

> A further donation in January 2008 to the Ivy Wall Hangers climbing club based at Ivybridge Community College.  Regular climber Jo Gentle says, "This money will allow us to buy more holds for the wall and create another climbing route.  Such financial support enables students to push their climbing ability and enter national climbing competitions .

Other support so far this year:

Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team - Plymouth, Ivybridge Horse & Dog Show (May 08), Big Heart Bike Ride -  Kenya, Camp And Trek.

Bandvulc also endeavours to support a number of fundraising events throughout the UK and provides sponsorship for various team or individual challenges. Our longest standing relationship is the one we enjoy with Transaid, a UK based transport development charity that works closely with the Transport and Logistics sector to put suitable transport solutions in place in areas of the world where little or no infrastructure exists.  HRH, the Princess Royal is the patron of Transaid and as a founder member we have supported the organisation for many years and regularly join in with events such as 'dressing down days'.

Each year the company draws up a budget and the selection of candidates and charities to support is carefully assessed.  Obviously there is not a bottomless pot but we hope that in enjoying the success we have as a company, we can share some of this good fortune with those trying to make a difference.
